This really highlighted the tension black women experience when simply existing and enjoying the things they have worked for whether they have ‘earned it or not’ in comparison our white counterparts who simply do not need to justify. I believe this is also rooted in the belief that white people have money because of the obvious history. It really made me realise the reason behind gate keeping certain things and opportunities as black women, i may be wrong but i assume there is also a mentality of well, ‘I worked hard to get here’ so I think you need to as well. Which further feeds the pre-existing division between ‘those who have made it’ and those we haven’t which essentially feeds in to capitalism. But does this also mean black women cannot enjoy luxury without helping those coming up? It’s a tough one because why should they, is it their job?But if they don’t who else is going to do it right 🤷🏽♀️
